Weekend Weather: Chance of Snow

A couple of inches are possible, says the National Weather Service.

An approaching cold front and a strengthening storm system in the Ohio Valley will help bring light snowfall to the Smithtown area on Saturday. While not particularly heavy, the snow may cause slippery roads and reduced visibilities.

Generally, 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast:

Friday: Mostly sunny for most of the day with a high near 50 degrees. Winds out of the West at 8 mph, with overnight snow accumulation unlikely.

Saturday: Snow is likely before noon. A 60 percent chance of precipitation during the day with a high of 38 degrees forecast. Winds out of the North at 9 mph.

Sunday: Overnight snow accumulation from one to two inches is possible. Colder and windy with a high temperature of 29 degrees and winds out of the Northwest at 28 mph.
