Breast Cancer Victory Day

Wendy Harpham, MD, a 23-year cancer survivor, best-selling author, nationally recognized speaker and patient advocate will be the keynote speaker at the 17th annual Breast Cancer Victory Day on Saturday, Sept. 21 at noon at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital.

Harpham is a doctor of internal medicine and the mother of three who coined the term “Healthy Survivor” for a survivor who gets good care and lives as fully as possible. She blends information, inspiration and humor to illustrate how patients can overcome challenges.

Victory Day is an annual day of triumph and togetherness for anyone who has been touched by breast cancer. Hundreds of survivors, family members and supporters will hear inspirational speakers, receive information on treatment and services, and receive emotional support from others who have shared their experience. Participants may travel to the event via the Long Island Rail Road’s complimentary Victory Train, which will make all local stops from Penn Station to Port Jefferson.
