Free VA "Aid & Attendance" Pension Benefit Seminars for Veterans Returns to The Arbors Assisted Living Community at Hauppauge

As we approach Veteran’s Day, The Arbors Assisted Living Community at Hauppauge is among The Arbors communities bringing back The Arbor's free “Aid & Attendance” Veteran Pension Benefit Seminar series the week of November 5th 2012 to empower our country’s heroes with helpful information about the program’s eligibility and application process, along with the new rate increases that took effect in 2012. The federally funded Veterans Administration’s (VA) Aid and Attendance Pension is available to wartime military veterans and their families. A Q&A session will immediately follow the discussion, which will be led by The Arbors Veterans Liaison, Patrick Yyngstrom, former Nassau County Director of Veterans Affairs and long-time Deputy Director. Light refreshments will be served.

Although the VA “Aid & Attendance” program has been available for decades, many veterans remain
unaware of it.  Unlike other aid-based programs, this benefit can be used to pay for living-related expenses, which can include home care and assisted living costs. If the military veteran him/herself is deceased, then the surviving spouse may qualify for the program.
