Cactus Salon is offering discounted haircuts ($20 for women, $15 for men and children) and all proceeds are benefiting Pal-O-Mine Equestrian and Island Harvest. Both of these charities need our help in these trying times.

Pal-O-Mine’s mission is to provide a comprehensive therapeutic equine program that uses horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing. Our population includes children and adults with disabilities, those who have been abused or neglected, the military and the economically compromised. Hurricane Sandy has brought a lot of damage to the facility and is limiting the services that can be provided to the students.

Island Harvest is the largest hunger relief organization on Long Island. By relying on volunteers, in-kind services, and donated food, we devote more than 95 cents of every dollar contributed directly to our programs. So many Long Islander's are without food after this storm, and Island Harvest is here to assist.

Visit any of these 6 Cactus locations: East Islip, Manorville, Nesconset, Northport, Plainview Ctr and Smithtown. We hope to see you there. If you can't attend and you'd like to donate, please visit www.crowdrise.com/cutforacause

This should not be a problem getting passed. It is across from the hospital there is a nursing homeRead More near by. We need more nursing homes as there are no beds available for our aging population. If you want to stay here near your family as you age and need a nursing home in the future, let them build this. You do not want to go outside of Smithtown and live in nursing homes out of this area - trust me, they are not nice! It is a fact of life, we are all going to be there one day- at least have a say in it and have them build one for our future needs. They do not have much noise or activity- really. Plus they will bring jobs to our area.

Nick, North Country rd. is 25A. Northern Blvd. intersects 25A and runs all the way to Roseville.Read More Northern Blvd is a small street about 1 mile long that is one block over from smithtown HS East main entrance. It's a serious problem when most of the neighborhood walking to the HS will pass by this creeps house. It's a totally different Northern Blvd.
