The earth, sea and sky of the
Long Island landscape have long provided artists endless possibilities in which
to seek their muse. The Island’s spectacular landscapes, quiet farmhouses, and
weather beaten bay houses have been captured in the works of artists throughout
history. With Long Island as muse and art as medium, we invited submissions of
Long Island places.

The
exhibition features the work of 20 artists from 13 communities across Long
Island. Each
artist has tried to communicate the
particular narrative
of a favorite Long Island place.  A variety of different media is represented
including oil, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel. Participating artists: Chris
Ann Ambery (Hauppauge), Svetlana Ballot (Lake Grove), Esther Marie Caponigro
(S. Huntington), Aleta Crawford (Manhasset), Rhoda Gordon (Port Jefferson),
Donna Grossman (Smithtown), Ruth Johnson (Smithtown), Franco Jona (Stony
Brook), Arntian Kotsa (Hauppauge), Joe Miller (Rocky Point), Irene
Paquette-Tetraut (Westbury), Robert Roehrig (East Setauket), Gisela Skoglund
(Kings Park), Mac Titmus (Coram), Irwin Traugot (St. James), Mary Ann Vetter
(St. James), Mary Webb (East Northport), Richard Wilkinson (Smithtown), Burton
