Volunteers Sought For Sunken Meadow, Nissequogue Beach Clean Up

Volunteers will join others in cleaning up local shorelines after Labor Day.

Tired of seeing soda bottles and cigarettes on the beach? Volunteer to lend a hand cleaning up after Labor Day. 

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has announced it is seeking volunteers to take part in the 28th annual New York State Beach Cleanup, in cooperation with American Littoral Society and sponsored by the the Natural Heritage Trust. 

Sunken Meadow State Park clean up is scheduled for Sept. 21, with rain date of Sept. 22. The Nissequogue River State Park is scheduled for Sept. 21 with no rain date. 

Those volunteers willing to help pick up should call the park they are interested in volunteering at to sign up: Sunken Meadow at 631-269-4333 and Nissequogue at 631-269-4927. 

Certificates will be provided for all volunteers.
