Dogs Left in Cars Risk Heat Stroke

Even on a cooler day parked in the shade, your pets can succumb to heatstroke or possible death if left unattended in the car.  On a 72-degree day a vehicle in direct sun can reach 116 degrees. Even when parked in the shade, the car can become 10 to 20 degrees hotter inside and cracking the windows has almost no effect.

If you see a pet left unattended in a vehicle, contact the store manager to locate the owners in the store. If you cannot reach a store manager, call your non-emergency line for the local police or animal control.
