A little bit of snow couldn't stop Santa Claus made his annual drive through Smithtown on Saturday night.

Smithtown Fire Department hosted its 34th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday night with sirens blaring and lights all aglow as the jolly, St. Nick waited to greet children and hear their Christmas wishes.

Despite the snow and hazardous road conditions, the parade started off with plans with the route being modified as necessary to accommodate the trucks. The planned stops at Smithtown Town Hall, Smithtown High School West and the Meat Farms Shopping Center on Route 347 were best places to catch up with the trucks.

I've been enjoying this parade since I was a little kid. I can remember opening the front door and listening to see if I could hear the sirens headed my way. These guys do a great job with this parade every year. Although I watched it from the window last night instead of outside on the corner, it was still a beautiful sight! Another year of our fire dept giving us this awesome tradition! Thanks to the guys & gals in the Smithtown FD!! Merry Christmas to all of you and your families!!

My family and I ran in and out of the house for half an hour...every time we thought the sirens sounded close! She is almost 4 and its so exciting for her to see all the firemen, the trucks all lit up and of course Santa. Thanks for doing it! And Merry Christmas!

The flyer that was distributed at the Nesconset tree lighting ceremony has next week 12/21 as the parade!? Also the above headline says "Smithtown Fire Department hosts its annual Christmas Parade on Sunday." Yesterday was Saturday.
