Check the times and places for this weekend's holiday tree-lighting ceremonies in Smithtown.

It's the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, and Smithtown is ready to herald the arrival of the Christmas season.

The Town of Smithtown is prepared to herald the holiday season with not one, but two tree-lighting ceremonies this weekend:

St. James Chamber of Commerce will host its annual tree-lighting ceremony on the great lawn of Deepwells Farm County Park at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature live entertainment, a Best Tree contest and of course, a visit from Santa Claus for the children. Take a chance and enter a raffle for the chance to win a bike.

Stop by next door at Deepwells Holiday Boutique, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. The event features more than 30 artisans selling holiday gifts and wares at the 1845 Greek Revival-style farmhouse Different goods featured will include original art, stained glass, jewelry, handmade marionettes, dolls, painted Santas, floral arrangements, candles and more.

Join the Rotary Club of Smithtown for its annual Christmas tree lighting at the main branch of the Smithtown Public Library on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. This annual event draws the community together with entertainment and more.
