JWG's Done and Not Begun March 17-20, 2011

Wherein JWG welcomes sounds of Spring to quell Dad Meyer's stormy days.

Zwerglipatch  March 17, 2011  12:03 p.m.

Spring is here. I am sitting on our new stoop awaiting René who has been at the hospital with Mom and Dad. I do hear that morphine is making Dad comfortable and lucid and, of course, sleepy. He is not, by all means, out of the dark woods.

The pleasantness of today makes me yearn to putter in the gardens.

Here comes René.

Dad Meyer is having a comfortable day. We still do not know what can, and will, be done to get him on his feet. We shall have to wait.

There are many bees buzzing about the blooms in Zwerglipatch. These Honey Bees have not been seen in a long time. Are they making a comeback? It certainly seems like they are. Many comebacks are acknowledged with —

Aloha!

Here I am at the picnic table sitting in the sunshine. It is a beautiful day. My life is good.

Dad Meyer’s life is hanging by a thread. He had a mental breakdown yesterday when they took him off the morphine. This morning, Mom said, he sounded better. I will get René’s take on this when he returns from seeing Dad at the hospital.

Dad Meyer’s stormy days were calmer today. Mom just called to say she is going to the diner with Friends who are bringing her home. I am glad she is taking the time to have a chance to wind down after the hospital which is not a jolly time.

With the Full Worm Moon in perigee — bright as a piece of polished marble — we listen to James Furman’s “Hehhehlooyuh”, among other choral Hallelujahs, sung by the Santa Fe Desert Chorale. Joyous. Toe-tapping. This a capella choral singing makes this day a good day.

This morning, although chilly, is warm with the sounds of Spring. The birds know that the seasons change. Their celebratory chirping is a symphony — a chamber symphony. This music cheers me. Spontaneity. Improvisational.

Each day in Zwerglipatch is an improv performed. I can plan and change plans at the drop of a hat. This does not disturb me. Yesterday’s short-term goals were achieved. Today will be total improvisation. Yes, I do have the concreteness of what should be done in my mind firmly set. No, I do not expect much to be accomplished today.

Before sleeping last night, I read a couple of Kate Chopin’s short stories. Her slices of life, for me, are an introduction to characters. She wrote cinematically, as many writers did, before the birth of cinema was known. Ms. Chopin is inspiring my mind to create. Many, many authors inspire me.

First lines. Characters. Plots. Voices. Sounds. Places. Action. Non-action. These are my nemesis. My indecision, as you know, I have decided to ignore; yet, what flows is the thickest crude which needs, for me, too much refining. Sparkling clarity will be attained one of these days when I least expect it. Such are the surprises in my Life.
