JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — I Never & Magazines (2 poems)

Wherein JWG ponders Life while sitting on a bench.

95. I Never

I never
See a Bench without yearning to sit down
And think why it’s there.

In Public Places,
Did anyone of renown sit like me
To privately ponder Life?

When Life has a scenic view,
Pondering isn’t even considered.
Experiencing becomes a Life.

Staring at crisp, rippling foliage
Or unwavering rock in high mountains

Or water in one of its many guises.

Sharing a Bench with a Love
Enhances each scene with a lasting bond
Which can never be taken away.

If One is lucky,
One can return to a Bench with fresh eyes
And the same Loving partner.

I know now
Why I yearn to sit on a peaceful Bench.
It lasts forever.

96. Magazines

Magazines
I read are kept by my bedside table.
There aren’t that many.

I’ve five subscriptions.
I’ve lessened periodical reading.
I enjoy reading my books.

I have always liked science.
“Science News” keeps me abreast of what’s new.
And, its articles have humor, too.

“BBC Music” is a good guide
To new music and seasonal performers.
(Ev’ry once in a while, I make a purchase.)

For garden writing, I have
Subscribed to “Horticulture” for two years.
I can’t say this magazine whelms me.

One cannot dismiss
“The American Poetry Review”
To read about new poets.

And lastly,
For aging, “AARP Bulletin”
Sadly depresses.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
