43. Nuts and Bolts

Nuts and bolts
Are continually saved, and then, lost
When they are needed.

These tiny items,
Compared to what they are integral to,
Can be just as important.

A lost nut can halt projects.
A bolt’s incorrect thread can be irksome.
Too big or too little seems normal.

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.
Sane people are said to have good, strong bolts.
Those who are insane are considered nutty.

And then there are eccentrics
Who succeed in tightening ev’ry nut
No matter what bolt they encounter.

Placing nuts on bolts
Is not an easy task without practice.
Coordinate mind and hands.

Screw the nuts
Onto bolts and place them in a safe place.
Then, Life has less strife.

44. Intriguing

Intriguing
Whispering creates possibilities
To misunderstand.

It’s all in the eyes.
Watching where the whisperer is looking
Helps fill in possible gaps.

Inching one’s body closer
Is a sure sign of a nosy person
Whose intent is knowing what goes on.

Clandestine giggling precipitates
Curiosity to overhear words
Which, hopefully, will be about someone else.

If the target is yourself,
There is only one person to blame — you.
I, myself, know how harsh this can be.

I have heard lies told
That, if refuted, would be laughed at.
Whispering can be ugly.

Likelihood
Is the best excitement when one overhears,
“Can that really be . . . ?”
