JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Poignant Days & Trivial (2 poems)

Wherein JWG gathers souvenirs. (And, Friends, JWG is about to embark on another adventure — with René, of course. He'll be back in two weeks. Aloha!)

2. Poignant Days

Poignant days
Occur more often when one is older.
I pine for lost Friends.

A feeling of loss
Overwhelmed the passion of listening.
It’s hard for me to focus.

Making new Friends fills a void
Which being a survivor has brought me.
Fortunately, I have Love’s support.

I know those who would have liked to sit

With me and be regaled with new stories.
In another World, they’re able to do so.

Many People are confused
At my quick observations and comments
Which I explain is reality.

The Sun’s rays enhance
Scenes I have shared when walking in silence.
Pebbles picked up become gems.

Souvenirs
Gathered by body and mind have become
Important factoids.

3. Trivial

Trivial
Personalities when placed in the news
Make jealous tongues wag.

We see new faces.
We believe happiness or misery
Is behind each face we see.

The provocative photos
Make gossips gloat about what they don’t know.
Will they ever get to know the truth?

I listen and think that no one cares.
Today’s news is forgotten tomorrow.
The bulk of the news we hear is trivial.

I use the word “trivial”
As some use the phrase “it doesn’t matter”.
Who am I to say that it doesn’t?

A Man just told me,
“The trivial things become important.
That’s my Life’s Philosophy.”

I listened.
I agreed to the statement he told me.
Nothing’s Trivial.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
