JWG's Grand Hodgepodge —Principles (a poem)

Wherein JWG forever hopes that George Washington's words will be heeded.

107. Principles

Principles
Have no need for clandestine politics
When The Truth is told.

We have had enough
Of the closed-door meetings and discussions
That affect our Liberties.

An ignorant Populace
Is said to be The Constituency.
If that’s so, where’s the Constitution?

George Washington’s words must be recalled:
“I hope ever to see America...
Foremost...in...justice and liberality.”

Have We all abandoned Hope?
Have We obscured the possibility
Of pursuing Happiness?

It is a pity
That Hate has become stronger than Love.
Will We hold the Hand of Peace?

I have Hope
That those who govern will have the good sense
To heed Washington.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
