JWG's Miniscule Past — his love for Lucy and Julie Andrews

Wherein JWG extols his deep admiration for Lucille Ball and Julie Andrews.

72. January 28, 2011 c.

How can I not mention “I Love Lucy”?
I idolize that black-and-white redhead.

I recall being in my playpen and
Laughing at Lucy when I was just four.

My raucous laughing at Lucy’s antics
Can never be dismissed as wasted time.

When in Switzerland, I wore my t-shirt
Of Lucy thinking the Swiss would know her.

I was shocked. The Swiss didn’t know Lucy!
How could I explain this comic genius?

Lucy Ricardo-Carmichael-Carter.
Lucille Ball’s characters make me giddy.

I still can’t believe I have lived to see
Lucy living on my library shelf.

Lucy Ricardo’s at my fingertips.
How can anything go wrong with my World?

86. February 4, 2011 b.

If I ever go into a coma,
Please, bring to my bedside Julie Andrews.

Her dulcet tones will jar me back to Life.
It would be absolutely loverly.

Whenever I hear her name, a big smile
Overcomes any emotion I have.

I was ten-years-old when I first heard her.
As a soprano, I could match her notes.

While in the shower, I would sing her songs.
I loved singing “I Could Have Danced All Night”.

My feeling for Julie has never waned.
If anything, she has grown in stature.

I love how she brings a touch of class and
Human Truth to each of her characters.

I would like to consider as a Friend
The Woman we know as Julie Andrews.

Tomorrow is the vote..vote NO NOW or our taxes are going to continue to sky rocket. Unless we doRead More something this town will continue to spiral down. More taxes aren't going to help. We need to cut expenses and get ourselves on a fiscally responsible plan.

Isn't that above the cap? Funny, when another news source mentioned 5 districts that are breakingRead More the cap they didn't mention Smithtown. Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
