JWG's Necessity June 16 & 18, 2012

Wherein JWG and René, as newlyweds, are renewed — their vision is clear even among clouds.

On this most beautiful day of late-Spring, The Zwerglipatch Cottage windows are once again clean and René is putting the finishing touches of hunter green paint on the trim work. When he is finished, we will both feel as if something was accomplished today. It will be fun to get more reactions to our quirky home which we have developed. Each room is different — and, for us, comfortable. How many newlyweds can say that? How many “newlyweds” waited, or in our case, had to wait over three decades for the privilege to be married? No matter. It is all a “done deal” which can’t be changed.

The Sun is attempting to snap the chill in the air this morning. I am close to putting on long pants to warm my knees. More Lilies are making their seasonal debut. This will be an luscious week.

René and I had a successful weekend. This week, many boxes will be arriving. Artwork, rugs, and a shade for our Library’s window have been purchased. And, I did go through many boxes of books and mementoes. Ah, yes, this has been a busy Spring. This has been an exciting Spring. We are renewed.

René and I have bonded even more closely. We have found that Life is a high wire on which we have balanced our likes. To maintain balance, we not only compromise, we share and encourage. Our vision is clear even among clouds. We cannot be deterred. It is thrilling to experience life as a married couple. Gracious! I never even thought I would write, and share, such a statement. My dream of Happiness has extended. Dreams, indeed, do come true.

Tomorrow is the vote..vote NO NOW or our taxes are going to continue to sky rocket. Unless we doRead More something this town will continue to spiral down. More taxes aren't going to help. We need to cut expenses and get ourselves on a fiscally responsible plan.

Isn't that above the cap? Funny, when another news source mentioned 5 districts that are breakingRead More the cap they didn't mention Smithtown. Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
