Eery Darkness
Going down into the cellar
Where spiders and spooks were waiting
Threatened to crack my sanity.
If I conquered the dim stairway,
Some homemade Jelly was my prize.
If I am all alone
With no hand to hold mine,
I laugh at my jitters
That rise to the surface
When I’m in a dark place.
Eery darkness
Has to be faced
Stoically
And not dismissed.
Light can be seen.
