Debate Morning

Here's an Introduction to the presidential debate at Hofstra on October 16.

Hello World,

It's just the beginning of a crazy day here on Hofstra's campus.  Before I get into that though, let me breifly introduce myself.  I'm a Senior at Hofstra, graduating in May, and I'm pretty much the farthest thing from your normal 21-year-old.

Typically, my life revolves around sports 24/7 - I have been the Sports Director at our student radio station, WRHU, since January 2011.  At WRHU I've worked as a Color Commentator & Reporter on our NY Islanders Game Broadcasts (The only college station in the country to be the flagship radio station for a professional sports franchise might I add), and the lead Play by Play voice for Hofstra Pride Basketball, Lacrosse & Baseball.

On the side I work as a Sports Producer at News12 Long Island, the Play by Play Voice & Producer of all internet game broadcasts at Molloy College, and host a few shows on Hofstra Television.

Needless to say, I'm pretty busy, and the Debate has only added to the craziness.

For the Presidential Debate here at Hofstra I've been chosen as one of a few students in the School of Communication to work as a reporter for what we call "Debate TV".  We basically have been going around campus the past few months acting just as the networks would - talking to students, reporting on whats going on in preparation for the Debate, going to events on campus, and etc..

The past few days have been a blur, but there is an incredible buzz here on campus right now. Getting to talk to fellow students has been my favorite part, because you can really feel the excitement and pride (no pun intended) they have for their school with the world watching.

I'll be updating this as much as possible throughout what is sure to be a crazy day, but in the mean time check out all of the videos we've made thus far (with a TON more to come) here: http://www.hofstra.edu/debate/debate_debateTV.html

Going to be quite the adventure over the next 15+ hours.
