Event Spotlight: Bell, Book, and Candle Playing At The Brush Barn

Love can be a magical thing.

Saturday, the Smithtown Historical Society presents the Gercharel Players Production of Bell, Book, and Candle.

The Gercharel Players are an independent Long Island traveling theatre company that produces six live main stage productions each year. Founded in 2008, they perform from Glen Cove to Brightwaters.

In this romantic comedy, written by John Van Druten and directed by Dulcie Stoepker, witch Gillian Holroyd casts a spell on publisher and upstairs neighbor, Shepherd Henderson in order to keep him from marrying her old college rival. Shep falls madly in love with her - but maybe the plan worked too well.  Gill might be feeling the same. The twist: witches can’t fall in love without losing their magical powers. A choice must be made.

Tickets for this bewitching comedy can be reserved by calling the Historical Society at (631) 265-6768, or purchased at the door the evening of the show.

When: Saturday, June 16th, at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Frank Brush Barn, 211 E Main St, Smithtown, NY 11787

Cost: $15 general admission, $10 for seniors and students

Why: It’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy a bewitching comedy

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
