Reduce Your Cooling Costs this Summer

Save Money on your cooling costs this summer by installing energy efficient Skylight Shades and Window Shades.

     Cooling your home
during the hot summer months can be a very expensive proposition, especially on
Long Island where electric rates are
exorbitantly high.  Covering your windows
and skylights with energy efficient window shades and skylight shades is one

way to save energy and reduce your utility bills considerably.

    Skylights are one
of the biggest offenders when it comes to wasting energy.  Have you ever noticed that the rooms in your
home that have skylights are always warmer than those that do not have skylights?  If the thermostat that controls your cooling
system is anywhere near a room that contains a skylight it will tell your air
conditioning unit to stay on longer than it has to while it works to cool down
that space.  The result is usually that
the air conditioner never shuts off causing your electric meter to spin out of
control, and we all know what that means.

    The solution to
this problem is installing energy efficient skylight shades, not only will you
see a substantial savings on your energy bill but, you will be able to cool
your whole house to an even temperature.
Skylight shades are available with light filtering and room darkening
options so you will not have to give up the beautiful light that your skylight
provides if you don’t want to.  To learn
more about how skylight shades can save you money on your energy bill and how
they will virtually pay for themselves over time contact your local window
treatment professional.

Tomorrow is the vote..vote NO NOW or our taxes are going to continue to sky rocket. Unless we doRead More something this town will continue to spiral down. More taxes aren't going to help. We need to cut expenses and get ourselves on a fiscally responsible plan.

Isn't that above the cap? Funny, when another news source mentioned 5 districts that are breakingRead More the cap they didn't mention Smithtown. Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
