Dorothy J. Melvin, Smithtown Resident, Dies

Dorothy J. Melvin, a Smithtown resident, died on Dec. 30, 2013. She was 89. 

Melvin, a former Bethpage resident, was the beloved wife of the late George. She is survived by her children, Gordon (Mary) and Donald (Ann); a grandmother to 5 and great-grandmother to 7, Newsday reports.  

Funeral services were held on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home in East Setauket. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia or Good Shepherd Hospice.
