Harvey Jepsky, Teacher, Dies at 78

The former Smithtown resident passed away July 4.

Smithtown native Harvey Jepsky has died. He was 78 years old.

Jepsky died July 4 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, according to a Star News Online obituary.

The Hampstead, NC resident was a teacher of more than 40 years, and taught in Massachusetts, Long Island and two North Carolina schools – Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington and Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville.

A tennis and bowling fan, Jepsky was a member of Temple of Israel and Belvedere Golf and Country Club, according to the Star News obituary, and was also a devout follower of University of North Carolina Wilmington basketball. 

Services were held July 6 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel in Hampstead, NC. Memorial contributions may be made at two locations – St. Jude Children's Research Hospital located at 501 St. Jude Place in Memphis, TN, or The Temple of Israel located at 1 South 4th Street in Wilmington, NC.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
