This past July 4th I was at Sunken Meadow to enjoy the beach with friends. It was horrifying to witness the filth and abuse of our beach by weekend visitors. Despite some small signs stating no fires or barbecue in the west parking lot here were hammocks hung from the trees, gargage everywhere and barbecues galore. There certainly needs to be police to ticket abusers. The next day we returned to swim during the heat and field 3 was covered with dirty diapers, broken beer bottles and trash everywhere, even on the beach and by the water's edge. It was horrifying to see! Park workers were working endlessly to clean up this overwhelming mess. These visitors need to be ticketed for littering and public safety. So very sad we can't even enjoy this local beach on weekends and holidays.
