Tell Us: Businesses That Have Come And Gone in Huntington

Which do you miss the most?

Businesses come and go in Huntington through the years - and the slumping economy hasn't helped make things easier.

But some restaurants and shops that closed their doors enjoyed devoted followings. Think: records which closed last July; and the  which closed earlier this year, and more.

Which leads to the question: which eatery or store from the past do you miss the most? Tell us in the comments.

What - no Salty Dog? Sunshines? Snappy? Gazebo? The Clog Shop? Caboose?

Yes, Oscar's Books on New York Ave. I don't miss it really, I remember it. Since I've lived for over 40 some years in the South since my adolescence - it's just a fond memory. Oscar seemed like a curmudgeon to a fifteen year old. Sharp exchanges with college age students, he massive and appeared grumpy . . . but I'll never forget his suggestions, the gentle guidance given in the direction of a few choice volumes I still treasure . . .

I got a question. Ot the people who remember Link's Log Cabin, do any of you remember that the restaurant used to have mismatched plates and cups ? or am I thinking of another restaurant? It has been a very long time since I lived on Long Island and am just trying to reminisce and jog my memory a bit with this question .
