What's the Most Traffic Congested Area Locally?

From Main Street to Route 111, Terry Road and more, we want to know what traffic congestion is the worst locally.

Numerous emails have been sent to Smithtown Patch and the comments section has been flooded with angst following the reporting of the changes made to Main Street.

"I was driving through Smithtown yesterday morning, and the traffic was horrendous ... Traffic was backed up all the way down Terry Road," wrote reader Amy.

"Main Street is now a total disaster. Today is day two of the new lanes and traffic is backed up everywhere!" added reader Fran.

While the comments were posted on a story about Main Street traffic changes, there are plenty of other areas locally that suffer from traffic congestion.

If you're driving north on Route 111 by Uncle Giuseppes when school lets out you're bound to sit at the light at Main Street for at least 20 minutes. Heading to Nesconset at that same time on Terry Road by CVS and you'll probably experience the same thing. Westbound traffic on Main Street from New York Avenue on at that time is just as problematic. Have you been stuck by Edgewood Avenue? Chances are you've probably hit traffic there too.

With the Main Street changes Kings Park residents are also affected, as many use the roadway to get to and from work.

With all the areas of traffic congestion locally, what's the worst? Let us know in the comments.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
