3-Car Accident Shuts Down Route 25A in St. James

Two people left scene in ambulances, injuries unknown.

A three-car accident on Route 25A in St. James temporarily closed down traffic in both directions Friday afternoon.

Two people were taken away in ambulances, however the extent of the injuries is currently unknown.

Police said one car pulled out into traffic on Route 25A from Clinton Avenue when it struck a car travelling northbound on Route 25A. The two cars then simultaneously struck another car that was travelling southbound, according to police.

The three vehicles involved in the accident were a white 2011 Toyota Rav 4, a blue 2004 Toyota Corolla and a tan Toyota Corolla. The airbag in the tan Corolla was released, however airbags in the over vehicles were not.

Route 25A was closed from the 7-Eleven to Clinton Avenue and traffic was diverted by Head of the Harbor and Suffolk County Police and the St. James Fire District in each direction through the Colonial Commons parking lot.
