Smart move... he obviously knew the reputation of S.C.of S. Emergency Dept. and requested to be brought to a hospital that wouldn't try to kill him with benign neglect.... The hospital is known in Smithtown as St. Catherine of "Suicidia".. You are treated like a piece of meat, not a patient... The ER staff's incompetence, callousness and arrogance caused me to call an ambulance to take me to another hospital...

RIDING A BICYCLE ON 25A WITH CARS WIZZING BY IS NOT SMART......CARS / TRUCKS, & BICYCLES DO NOT MIX .....NEVER MIND RIGHT OF WAY.....ITS NOT A GOOD IDEA......SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS MESS UP, & THIS KIND OF PROBLEM RESULTS.

I have always found the ER at St Catherine's to be more than adequate and the staff to be very helpful. My family has been there on MULTIPLE occassions and have never had an issue.

St Catherines ER is not a trauma ER. The ambulance company has certain protocols.

Yes. You are correct "SmithtownResident".

So the traffic that will be added by that new nursing home is a great idea ! Lets add more cars to that stretch. That's the second accident in 2 days. Oct 4 someone crashed into phone pole!

dont blame the bicyclist for riding their bike on a bike route in a dedicated bike lane. blame the driver that was under the influence and swerved through the bike lane onto the grass and was arrested on scene for intoxication.

I completely agree with "Smithtown Athlete." The problem here is the drunk driver and not the cyclist.

I agree - this hospital is horrible. Not enough room here to get into why - but they are the worst!

I believe that I have seen signs that designates 25A as a bike route. Its as bad as Old Northport Road being a bike route too - huge trucks going zooming by and some of the turns on that road are blind turns. Im suprised someone hasnt been seriously hurt there too!

I concur... St Catherine's is terrible is the emergency medicine department. They disregarded the heart attack I was having at the time and told me to stand in the waiting room and "wait with the rest of them, We'll call you when it's your turn"... good stuff. Good thing I have a cardiologist in the family that lead me in the right direction in my emergency situation and i went elsewhere to help avoid permanent damage
