UPDATE: Hauppauge Woman Dies in Smithtown Car Accident

Marlene Strober, 64, of Hauppauge, was pronounced dead at the scene of a Friday morning car accident on Route 347 in Smithtown.

UPDATE [1:20 p.m.] A Hauppauge woman was killed in a car accident Friday morning on Route 347 in Smithtown, according to police.

According to police, Marlene Strober, 64, who was driving a 2002 Saab north on Plaisted Avenue, pulled out in front of a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Rafael Robles, 50, of Bay Shore, traveling eastbound on Route 347 at 9:05 a.m. Strober was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robles was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center to be treated for chest injuries.

Police said the vehicles were impounded for safety checks and they are continuing to investigate.

 

[10:49 a.m.] Police have closed Route 347 from Route 111 to Mount Pleasant Road after a fatal accident took place Friday morning, according to police. 

Police are on scene investigating the accident.

Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
