Crime Report: Business Dispute Turns into Threats, Routine Traffic Stops Turn into Arrests

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in the Fourth Precinct.

The Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during March 1-12:

Jason Giannini, 34, of Deer Park was arrested March 6 in Smithtown and charged with second degree aggravated harassment. Reports indicated Giannini allegedly sent threatening text messages to someone.   

Valerie Brewster, 45, of Wyandanch was arrested March 5 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. Reports indicated Brewster allegedly stole an LED television from a store located at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway, Smithtown.

Robert Dore, 20, of Nesconset was arrested March 4 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state at approximately 12:23 a.m., Dore was operating his 2002 Ford northbound on Terry Rd., Smithtown, and was pulled over for alleged DWI.   

Jenna Loiacono, 20, of Hauppauge was arrested March 4 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Loiacono was operating her vehicle eastbound on Main St., Smithtown when she was allegedly pulled over for using a cell phone without a hands free device. Reports indicate the officer arrested her for alleged DWI.

Joseph Collins, 42, of Ronkonkoma was arrested March 4 in Smithtown and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and loitering. Reports state Collins was allegedly in possession of crack, cocaine and stolen license plates at 292 Ronkonkoma Avenue.    

Daniel Buonaiuto, 22, of Smithtown was arrested March 3 in Smithtown and charged with possession of a forged instrument, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Reports state Buonaiuto allegedly used a fake twenty dollar bill to pay for gas and allegedly possessed heroin.   

Jason Prechtl, 19, of Smithtown was arrested March 3 in Smithtown and charged with DWAI. Reports state Prechtl was operating his vehicle westbound on Main St., Smithtown when police arrested him for alleged DWAI.    

Kristy Perrotta, 26, of Selden was arrested March 3 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Perrotta was operating her vehicle southbound on Old Willets Path, Smithtown when police pulled her over for allegedly having one headlight. Upon being stopped, the officers arrested her for alleged DWI.    

Vincent Vescova, 44, of Woodbury was arrested March 1 in Smithtown and charged with second degree aggravated harassment. Reports state Vescova allegedly threatened by another man after a business dispute.     

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  If any of the above charges have been acquitted, in order for removal from publication, one must email the editor and provide proof of dismissal.
