Crime Report: Man Allegedly Threatens with Knife

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County Police Department reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Jan. 11 - 17.

Shandi Groom, 25, of Centereach was arrested Jan. 17 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. Groom is accused of stealing clothing and sneakers from Macy's at the Smith Haven Mall.

Sabyasachi Bose, 53, of Kings Park was arrested Jan. 14 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Bose was stopped for speeding while traveling eastbound on Route 25 near Caleb Smith State Park in a 2011 Jaguar at 12:15 a.m.

Christopher Capolino, 22, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 14 in Smithtown and charged with seventh degree possession of a controlled substance. Capolino was in the parking lot of Avalon Gardens when he was approached by police and allegedly found to be in possession of an illegal substance.

William Byrus, 19, and Thomas Schoen, 20, both of Hauppauge, were arrested Jan. 14 in Smithtown and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Reports indicate they were seated in a 2008 Acura on Oakside Road at the time of the arrest.

Pat Toomey, 29, of St. James was arrested Jan. 12 in St. James and charged with second degree menacing. Toomey is accused of holding a knife to another person on Main Street in Smithtown on Dec. 31 and making a demand. 

Paul Hylton, Jr., 20, of Central Islip was arrested Jan. 11 in Smithtown and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. He is accused of possessing the drug in a 2002 GMC on Veterans Highway at 5:10 p.m.
