Crime Report: Marijuana Possession, DWI

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County Police Department reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Nov. 30 - Dec. 6.

Emmanuel Amaral, 42, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 6 at the Fourth Precinct and charged with third degree grand larceny. He allegedly took money from someone by agreeing to buy multiple vehicles, but failed to buy the vehicles or return the money.

Steven Doyle, 22, of Nesconset was arrested Dec. 5 at his home in Nesconset for issuing a bad check with knowledge of insufficient funds.

Osvoldo Arias, 51, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 5 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. He is accused of stealing a hard drive and other merchandise from Target in Commack.

Gaoqin Chen, 35, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 4 in Smithtown and charged with possession of counterfeit DVD's. Chen is accused of trying to sell them.

Anthony Rivera, 21, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Dec. 2 in Smithtown and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Richard Hedge, 54, of St. James was arrested Dec. 1 in Islandia and charged with first offense DWI. Reports indicate Hedge was driving north on Route 454 when in a 2000 Ford when he was stopped and determined to be intoxicated.

Ronald Derisi, 67, of Smithtown was arrested Dec. 1 at his home in Smithtown and charged with second degree criminal mischief. Derisi is accused of cutting cables to a cell phone tower that was being built along Nesconset Highway on Nov. 25.

Pietro Gruppuso, Jr., 23, of St. James was arrested Nov. 30 in Smithtown and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. Gruppuso allegedly stole a ring from a woman on Oct. 11 at 82 West Main Street.
