Crime Report: Driving Impaired by Drugs; Stolen Playstation Controllers

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Dec. 30, 2012 to Jan. 5.

A 17-year-old Bay Shore boy was arrested on Jan. 5 in Smithtown on petit larceny charges, a misdemeanor. Reports state the boy stole two Playstation controllers valued at $110 from under a store counter. 

Paul Merring, 28, of Hauppauge, was arrested on Jan. 2 in Smithtown on first-degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs charges, a misdemeanor. Reports state Merring was crossing the double-yellow lines in the road while impaired by drugs driving a 2004 Dodge pickup at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Route 111.
