Crime Report: DWI Charges, Bad Checks and Loitering Charge

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in the Fourth Precinct.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Jan. 21—28:

Mara Larit, 56, of Commack was arrested Jan. 24 in Smithtown and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.  Reports state Larit left the scene of an accident.  Reports state Larit was driving a 2004 Cadilac and rear ended a 2000 Honda and left the scene. 

Edgar Quintanilla, 34, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 24 in Smithtown and charged with governmental obstruction.  Reports state Quintanilla was arrested on Rose Ln. in Smithtown after he obstructed with police while they were providing medical attention to somebody.

Richard Iuliucci, 61, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 23 in Smithtown and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.  Reports state Iuliucci crashed his unknown type of vehicle into the rear of a Ford Taurus on Route 347 in Lake Grove.  Reports also state he left the scene of the accident. 

Kevin Jolly, 24, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 23 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI.  Reports state Jolly was pulled over on Nissequogue River Road in Smithtown after not stopping at a stop sign in his 2003 Subaru.

Robert Pellegrino, 25, of Northport was arrested Jan. 23 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny.  Reports state Pellegrino gave a bad check to NY Treasure Box located on Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack. 

Jose Fernandez, 37, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 23 in Smithtown and charged with assault, loitering with the purpose of using and possessing cocaine, warrant out for arrest, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Reports state Fernandez was arrested on Oak Street in Copiague. 

Danny Nieves, 22, of Ronkonkoma was arrested Jan. 22 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny.  Reports state Nieves was arrested on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown after he stole someone’s wallet. 

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  If any of the above charges have been acquitted, in order for removal from publication, one must email the writer and provide proof of dismissal.
