Crime Report: Narcotics Charges, DWI Charges, Petit Larceny Charges and Stolen Cash

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in the Fourth Precinct.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Smithtown during Feb. 9-15:

Justin Guerrero, 25, of Nesconset was arrested Feb. 15 in Islandia and charged with third degree narcotics, first degree criminal sale of marijuana, and third degree narcotics with intention to sell. Reports state at approximately 4:45 p.m., Guerrero was allegedly in possession of an unknown narcotics drug with an intention to sell and in possession of oxycodone. 

Stephan Tiarks, 46, of St. James was arrested Feb. 14 in Saint James and charged with petit larceny. Reports state at approximately 11:40 p.m., Tiarks allegedly cut twenty feet of electrical wire on North Country Rd. and Pie Blvd., Saint James.

Joseph Guarino, 19, of E. Northport was arrested Feb. 14 in Smithtown and charged with writing a false statement. Reports state on Feb. 6 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Guarino allegedly filled out a crash report with false information. 

Christopher Porteus, 21, of Lake Grove was arrested Feb. 13 in Smithtown and charged with first degree robbery. Reports state on Feb. 12 at approximately 8:57 p.m., Porteus allegedly displayed a pistol and stole cash at Yummy Kitchen located in Smithtown.

Elma Reyes, 45, of Central Islip was arrested Feb. 13 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state at approximately 4:22 a.m., Reyes was operating her 1995 Toyota and drifted into the right shoulder. Reports also state upon being stopped by police, Reyes was allegedly driving while intoxicated. 

Barry Perry, 23, of Central Islip was arrested Feb. 13 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. Reports state at approximately 2 p.m., Perry allegedly stole shirts at an unknown store in the Smithaven Mall. 

Fatima Bethea, 20, of Westbury was arrested Feb. 13 in Smithtown and charged with petit larceny. Reports state on Oct. 8, 2010 at approximately 4:27 p.m., Bethea allegedly stole assorted perfumes from the Sephora located in the Smithaven Mall. 

Richard Benanti, 22, of Smithtown was arrested Feb. 12 in Commack and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state at approximately 1:30 p.m., Benanti crashed his 2011 Toyota and was discovered to be intoxicated. 

Anthony Derosa, 21, of Nesconset was arrested Feb. 11 in Nesconset and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state at approximately 6:48 a.m., Derosa allegedly possessed cocaine, and a crack stem with cocaine residue. 

Kristopher Stillman, (unknown age), of Coram was arrested Feb. 10 in Smithtown and charged with third degree grand larceny. Reports state between Oct. 26 and Dec. 7, 2010, Stillman allegedly stole Island Federal Credit Union bank checks from two separate people. 

Taylor McLam, 36, of Huntington was arrested Feb. 9 in Smithtown and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state at approximately 2:05 p.m., McLam was operating his 2009 Honda eastbound on Route 25 and was allegedly discovered to be excessively speeding, and allegedly in possession of marijuana. 

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  If any of the above charges have been acquitted, in order for removal from publication, one must email the editor and provide proof of dismissal.
