Crimes Nearby: Bank Robbed, Cocaine Found At Scene of Car Crash

A look at recent crime in the region.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County police department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt. 

Kings Park

Kerry Wolf, 39, of Kings Park, was arrested on Sept. 1 in Islandia and faces one felony count of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction in the last 10 years. Police said Wolf was driving a 2004 Mercury when she got into an accident with another driver at the intersection of Veterans Highway and Expressway Drive South in Islandia. No one was injured in the accident, according to police.  

Christopher Mikelinich Jr., 23, of Kings Park, was arrested Aug. 29 and faces one felony charge of third-degree grand larceny. Mikelinich entered the home office on Indian Head Road six different times, taking more than $15,000 in cash, according to police.

Three Village

Stony Brook University officials areramping up security after reports of a robbery and an attempted robbery on campus came in over the course of three days. After releasing an emergency alert about a student who had been robbed Sept. 1 on campus, Stony Brook University officials have now said an attempted robbery was reported Tuesday. 

Deer Park

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Deer Park's New York Commercial Bank Thursday afternoon.

Police say a man entered the bank, located at 720 Grand Boulevard at approximately 1:15 p.m., approached a teller, displayed a handgun and passed a note to the employee demanding cash.  

The teller complied with the robber's demands and the man fled on foot.  He was last seen running southeast through the bank parking lot.
