Crimes Nearby: Landlord Steals Cash, Jewelry from Tenant

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County police reported the following arrests.

Three Village

Heather Dunscomb, 29, of Stony Brook, was arrested Aug. 26 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. According to police, Dunscomb struck another vehicle at 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 and left the scene of the accident.

Thomas Boyle, 36, of Stony Brook, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Reports state police tried to pull him over while on Third Street in East Northport at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 but he fled the scene on foot. He was arrested at his home at 8:55 p.m. that same day.

Police are investigating an incident of grand larceny reported Aug. 29 in which a male employee at the in Stony Brook reported a briefcase that was stolen from an office between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. According to police, the briefcase contained an iPad, keys, and a school district ID card.

Commack

A Commack woman has confessed to stealing cash and jewelry from a tenant living in her basement apartment, Suffolk County Police announced on Tuesday.

Police arrested Christine Georghakis, 45, on Sept. 1 and charged her with second-degree burglary after she admitted to stealing from her tenant's apartment in her 12 Johnson St. home's basement. Georghakis, who also goes by her married name, Christine Matarazzo, said she used her key to enter the apartment.

Police also said Georghakis had a prior arrest for a similar crime, but did not give any further details.

Victoria Dixonhorne, 22, of New York City, was arrested Aug. 29 in Commack and charged with grand larceny in the third degree. Police said Dixonhorne used an ATM at Chase Bank on Veterans Highway to withdraw more than $1,000 from another person's account.

Clayton Battice, 29, from Brooklyn, was arrested Aug. 28 in Commack and charged with peddling/solicitation. Battice was allegedly approaching residents near the intersection of Wiltshire Drive and Dwight Court, asking if they had any work as a handyman he could perform for monetary compensation. Police were called to the scene and found Battice had no licenses or certification to perform such work, and he was arrested.

Miller Place-Rocky Point

Shera Dougherty, 25, of Bayport, was arrested Sept. 1 in Shoreham and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Dougherty was allegedly found with a hypodermic needle containing heroin on Cobblestone Drive in Shoreham.

David Paulraj, 50, of Holbrook, was arrested Aug. 30 in Rocky Point and charged with first-offense DWI and third-degree grand larceny. He was arrested at 1:05 a.m. on Route 25A in Rocky Point while driving a 1995 Chevy pick-up that had been reported stolen. He failed to maintain his lane of traffic, was given a sobriety test and it was determined that he had been driving while intoxicated, police said.
