Friends of Murder Victim Plea to Have Son Remain in St. James

A banner asking to keep the son of the late Katie Farrell in St. James will be hoisted at the O'Brien & Thompson doctor's office Thursday afternoon.

A memorial is set up outside the doctor's office on Lake Avenue for the late Katie Farrell, . The office will add to the memorial Thursday by raising a banner for her son Tyler, asking for him to remain with his family in St. James.

The banner outside the office where Katie's mother Claire works will read "Bring Tyler Farrell Home." Currently, both Farrell's family and the family of James Schultz, the East Northport man an ex-boyfriend to Katie who police said killed her and returned home to kill himself, are seeking custody of their son Tyler, according to an employee at the office.

The memorial is a dedication to the type of person and mother Katie was, the office employee said.
