Historic Truck Returns to Fire Department

The Smithtown Fire Department brings the 1935 truck back to its former home from the Melville Fire Department.

The Smithtown Fire Department reacquired a historic fire truck from a nearby fire department – for $1.

According to the department, the 1935 Mack Hook and Ladder was purchased from the Melville Fire Department and arrived to the station Sunday after Melville was reunited with an antique truck of their own. Melville acquired the 1935 truck from Smithtown in the 1950s.

The fire department said the truck had all of its ladders and equipment stored and will have mechanical repairs done before a full restoration.
