Investigation Underway in Nesconset Elementary Fire

A fire to a modular classroom at Nesconset Elementary School has brought the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad in to investigate.

The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad is currently investigating a fire that took place Thursday night at Nesconset Elementary School on Gibbs Pond Road.

Police said the fire alarm at the school sounded at 7:31 p.m., and the fire took place in a modular classroom in the inner courtyard of the school.

Smithtown, Nesconset and St. James fire departments responded to the call, according to police.

. Workers from Belfor Property restoration were at the scene boarding up the building and taking photos of the scene from morning into early Friday afternoon.
