Sheriff: Local Woman 1 of 8 Arrested in Weekend DWI Check

The woman also was driving with a suspended license, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.

A Smithtown woman was one of eight people arrested this past weekend by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office on DWI or Driving while Impaired by Drugs charges.

According to the office, Michelle Licata, 55, of Smithtown, was arrested Aug. 25 at roughly 12:10 a.m. on DWI, Driving While Intoxicated, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speeding charges and other vehicle and traffic violations.

Reports state Licata was driving westbound on the LIE near Patchogue-Holbrook Road in a 2006 Saab 93 going 94 miles-per-hour. After being pulled over the deputy sherrif observed Licata slurring her words and having bloodshot, watery eyes. The report states Licata, who was driving with a suspended license, took a breathalyzer test that resulted in a .09 percent blood alcohol content, and she also had poor coordination and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests.
