MADD LI to Honor Police At Luncheon

Nassau and Suffolk Police among departments to be honored.

Nassau and Suffolk police will be among those recognized at the seventh annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) luncheon on Thursday, March 27. The event will be held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury on March 27 from 12-4 p.m.

In addition to Nassau and Suffolk police, law enforcement from New York Police Department and New York State Police.

This event acknowledges “the good work of over 70 law enforcement professionals from Montauk Point to New York City who have shown outstanding dedication to DWI enforcement, prosecution and education,” according to a press release.

This annual luncheon is a way to “thank those who are working so hard to keep our streets safe from the horrors of drunk driving,” according to MADD.

MADD’s National President Jan Withers will personally present the award to each recipient.

“MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving endorses and encourages high- visibility law enforcement and continuing diligence on the part of our police, prosecutors and probation professionals,” Richard C. Mallow, MADD New York State executive director, noted. “This annual event is our way of saying thanks to those who dedicate their lives to this important work.”

HEY K J, YOU CAN'T BE THAT IGNORANT. DRIVING IS NOT A RIGHT IT'S A PRIVILEGE. YOU ALSO KNOW WHEN DRIVING THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO CARRY A DRIVERS LICENSE, OR AS YOU CALL THEM "PAPERS". NOW YOUR COMPARING NAZI GERMANY OPPRESSION WITH OUR AMERICAN SYSTEM? THAT IS A COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE ANALOGY. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, DWI CHECKPOINTS ARE LEGAL AND SAVE LIVES. WOULDN'T IT APPEAR TO BE SUSPICIOUS TO THE POLICE IF YOU CHOSE TO AVOID A CHECKPOINT AND DECIDED TO DRIVE AWAY? THINK ABOUT IT. ONCE AGAIN I'LL REMIND YOU THAT YOUR WRONG IN YOUR ASSUMPTIONS.

HEY ARCH: I can believe that you are that ignorant, though, what with your indoctrination. You can't help yourself, you are to far into the system to change now. "Driving is a privilege not a right", a BS statement delivered by those in authority just trying to control the masses of sheep. If I complete all requirements for a drivers license and are then refused said license, you're going tell me I can legally be refused that license? Of course not, therefore as long as I fulfill my obligations my right to a license cannot be refused. As long as I legally turn around approaching a DWI stop, I am within my rights. To have a goon chase me down for that very action constitutes an illegal action on the part of the goon. Question authority, grow a pair.

Hey Arch: It's OK to "flash your lights", try it sometime, maybe it will set you free.

HEY K J, YOU CAN BE AS LIBERAL AND FREE THINKING AS YOU WANT TO BE IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE. IN A PREVIOUS COMMENT YOU WERE ALL FOR GETTING DRUNKS OFF THE ROAD AND SETTING UP DWI CHECKPOINTS, WHICH YOU FEEL FREE TO EXCLUDE YOURSELF FROM. YOU ARE ALREADY LIVING IN ONE OF THE LEAST OPPRESSIVE SOCIETIES IN THE WORLD, SO IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO ABIDE BY THE LAWS. THERE HAS TO BE SOME PREVIOUS PERSONAL HISTORY, THAT MAKES YOU SO VINDICTIVE. I THINK YOUR LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING LIKE RPM'S. ENOUGH SAID ON THIS TOPIC.

Hey Arch, only if those DWI checkpoints include ALL drunks, including off duty cops and MADD members. My lights may well be flickering, but yours went off a long time ago. I'VE ALSO WASTED ENOUGH TIME ON YOU-YOU'LL NEVER GET IT.
