Shooting occurs after uninvited guests arrive at party, police say.

A man was shot and killed in Central Islip Monday night outside of a home where a party was taking place, police said. 

According to police, uninvited guests arrived at a party at a home on Rosewood Street and when they were asked to leave, a fight ensued in the street around 9:50 p.m.

During the fight, at least one gunshot was fired and Nathaniel Winfield, of Central Islip was hit, police said. Winfield, 33, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.  

A second male, 16-year-old Joseph Jackson, of Wyandanch, was injured by unknown means during the fight and was also taken to Southside Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking with information about the incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220 TIPS.
