Mount Sinai Man Killed in Smithtown Crash

UPDATE: More details have been released by the Suffolk County Police Department in the car accident that took place early Sunday morning.

Jonathan Havlicek, 19, of Mount Sinai was pronounced dead at the scene in the car accident early Sunday morning at the intersection of Middle Country Road and Terry Road, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

According to police, at 3:30 a.m., Krystle Rivera, 23, of Selden, lost control of a 1988 Mercedes-Benz while driving eastbound on Middle Country Road, which then hit a tree and overturned. Havlicek was seated in the back of the car and was accompanied in the car by two other passengers.

Rivera and the two passengers were taken to the Stony Brook University Medical Center and were treated for injuries, which were considered non-life-threatening.

An investigation of the crash is currently underway by the Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives.
