UPDATE: Police Investigation Underway in Chase Bank Robbery

Police at the scene at the Nesconset Highway branch investigating a robbery call that came in Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: 7 p.m.: Suffolk County Police are currently investigating a bank robbery that took place Wednesday morning at Chase Bank in Hauppauge.

According to police, a man in his early 20's, roughly 5-foot 9-inches tall with a medium build and dark hair, entered the 603 Nesconset Highway location and handed the teller with a note demanding cash, which the teller complied. Police said the man then fled on foot south through the bank parking lot.

The man was wearing sunglasses, a baseball hat, maroon-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and sneakers at the time of the robbery, police said.

Any tips could be reported to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, and all calls will be kept confidential.

11:48 a.m.: Suffolk County Police were called to Chase Bank in Smithtown for a report of a robbery, a police spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday morning.

According to police, the call of a robbery at the was received at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday. Police are currently at the scene and an investigation is underway.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
