Police: Smithtown Man Drove While on Drugs, Sideswipes Car

A Smithtown man was arrested on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and other traffic violations Tuesday following a car accident on Sunken Meadow Parkway, according to New York State Police.

Police said Eric Oldham, 20, was driving a 1999 Pontiac northbound on Sunken Meadow Parkway at 10:18 p.m. when he sideswiped another car. During the investigation police found that Oldham was allegedly impaired by drugs and was also unlawfully in possession of Xanax. 

Oldham took a chemical test at the Brentwood precinct, the results of which are still pending, police said.
