Police: St. James Boy Drove While Impaired by Marijuana

A 17-year-old from St. James was arrested on multiple charges including unlawful possession of marijuana Friday night.

A 17-year-old St. James boy was arrested on DWAI drug charges when troopers found him to be impaired by drugs while driving on the Northern State Parkway, according to New York State police.

Police said the a State Trooper stopped the 17-year-old after throwing a cigarette out of the window Friday at roughly 10:30 p.m. while driving eastbound on Northern State Parkway. The trooper found the boy to be impaired by drugs and found a small amount of marijuana in his possession. He was then placed under arrest and received a blood chemical test, which the results are still pending.

The 17-year-old was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and depositing refuse on the highway – a traffic violation.
