Police: Store Worker Sold Beer, Tobacco to People Under Age

Police also say an illegal coin-operated gambling machine was being used in S&V Convenience Store.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Deer Park man after they said he sold alcohol to people under 21 years old and tobacco to people under 18 years old in a Smithtown convenience store, which also had an illegal gambling machine in operation.

Police said Vipul Shah, 45, was arrested March 28 at 7:40 p.m. while operating the S&V Convenience Store, located at 51 West Main Street, after selling alcoholic beverages to a people under the age of 21. According to police, Shah also sold tobacco products to people under 18 years old.

In addition to the alcohol and tobacco sales, police said Shah had an illegal coin-operated gambling machine in the convenience store that paid out money or prizes to winners such as lottery tickets, cash, coins and watches.

Shah was arrested on charges that include three counts of first-degree unlawful dealing with a child, a misdemeanor; two counts selling tobacco to a minor under 18, a misdemeanor; possession of a gambling device, a misdemeanor; and unlicensed bottle club, a Liquor Law violation.
