Police: Teachers Federal Credit Union Robbed, Investigation Underway

Teachers Federal Credit Union, located at 1 West Main Street in Smithtown, was robbed Tuesday morning, according to police.

The Teachers Federal Credit Union in Smithtown was robbed Tuesday morning by a man who said he was armed, police said.

Detectives are investigating the crime.

According to police, the robber s a light-skinned, 5-foot-9-inch Hispanic man with a slim-build wearing an olive green short brim hat, black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and dark brown boots. He entered the bank, located at 1 West Main Street, at 10:30 a.m. and gave a note to the teller demanding cash and indicating that he had a weapon.

Police said the teller complied handed over an undisclosed sum of cash, and the man left the bank travelling on foot eastbound on Main Street.
