A Nesconset store was struck by an armed robbery early Monday morning.

Suffolk County police said a 911 call came in at 11:22 a.m. Monday reporting an armed robbery at Party Hardy in Nesconset, located at 145 Smithtown Boulevard.

Police said a man entered Party Hardy and approached the cash register, displaying what appeared to be a handgun. The man demanded cash and the cashier immediately handed it over.

The gunman fled the Nesconset store, it is not clear whether he was on foot or traveling in a vehicle, according to police.

Police detectives, K-9 units and crime scene investigations were called to the Nesconset strip mall to search for the burglar and any possible leads.

No arrests have been made as of 3:45 p.m. Monday.

It is not immediately clear whether this robbery is in any way connected to last week's break-in at Ralph's Italian Ices in Nesconset.

Check these definitions before posting your next article. Please note, it will make your next article on a future similar occurrence more comprehensible. bur·gla·ry [bur-gluh-ree] noun, plural bur·gla·ries. Criminal Law. the felony of breaking into and entering the house of another at night with intent to steal, extended by statute to cover the breaking into and entering of any of various buildings, by night or day. rob·ber·y [rob-uh-ree] noun, plural rob·ber·ies. Law. the felonious taking of the property of another from his or her person or in his or her immediate presence, against his or her will, by violence or intimidation. Sorry, it always drives me nuts when the two are confused for one another.

And it would be helpful if there was a description of the robbery suspect.

Good thing he only took the cash. Now I can still have my Doug Funny themed birthday party. I thought this place closed 20 years ago. I see he may have also hit Ralph's? What's next, spaceplex?

No description? Is this because we are so afraid of offending anyone that we can't know who to be on the look out for, oh wait that's right it was a male suspect, that should really narrow it down.....political correctness is ridiculous

If the pattern continues, he should be hitting a pizza place next (but it won't be Uncle Baccala's)
