St. James Gas Station Robbed at Gunpoint, Police Seek Serial Robber

Police asking for public's help to find man believed to be responsible for numerous armed robberies.

A St. James Gulf gas station was robbed at gunpoint last week and police are seeking a man they suspect of robbing numerous other Suffolk County businesses over the past two weeks.

According to police, the man has entered eight establishments, including the Gulf on North Country Road on Nov. 1, and pretends to purchase an item.

When the employee opens the cash register, the man displays a black handgun and demands cash, police said. The robber then flees the location on foot, possibly to a vehicle waiting nearby, police said.

Besides the St. James Gulf, the robberies have occurred at six other gas stations located in Eastport, Calverton, Mastic, North Babylon, Dix Hills and Bohemia as well as at Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. No one was injured during any of the robberies.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 with a thin to medium build. He usually wears a dark-colored or gray hooded sweatshirt, police said.
